TaylorMade M6 irons The sweet-spot engineering on the M6 makes this a can’t-miss club for all levels—it’s definitely a straight-shooter. M6 in a nutshell: Larger overall size with more offset, stronger lofts, and wider soles helps mid – and high – handicappers optimize performance.
The M6 iron is built for distance. At 28.5°, the 7-iron is one of the strongest on the market, but that doesn’t mean you can’t hit towering iron shots. In fact, we found it launched and flew on a similar trajectory to M5 (7-iron loft 30°) just with slightly more ball speed and lower spin contributing to longer carries.
TaylorMade’s new M6 irons have been engineered for added distance and enhanced sound and feel. The result is a combination of tech that leads to added distance, accuracy and solid feel in a forgiving , confidence-inspiring shape that is easy to hit.
The M5 is a more compact shape, geared to help you maximize workability while giving it more of a “players” look. The M5’s blade length is 80mm, compared to the 90mm blade length of M6 . The sole of the M6 iron is also wider, which lowers the CG on the club to help you launch it not only easier, but further, too.
If you want maximum forgiveness and workability, you should choose the TaylorMade M6 . TaylorMade placed a fixed 46 gram weight low and in the back to increase MOI and lower CG. The claim is that the M6 will produce a bit more spin than the M5 , and we can confirm a slight increase in spin with our testing.
TaylorMade said the new M6 irons deliver 1.6 mph more ball speed than last season’s M4 irons , which translates to 3.7 more yards of carry distance and 5 more yards of overall distance. They also send the ball slightly higher , so approach shots should still stop and hold the greens.

A mid handicapper is a golfer who plays off a handicap between around 7, 8 or 10 up to about 17 or 18. That means you can generally break 90 every other round or shoot in the 80’s every round. It’s a wide range but the goal is always the same, break 90 consistently or break 80.
They are a cavity back iron with a Speed Pocket slot in the 7 to 4 irons , but in the M6 version it is the Thru-Slot, which we first saw in the TaylorMade P790 irons . TaylorMade M6 Irons – Product Details.

TaylorMade Golf M6 Iron TaylorMade always meets expectations; in fact, they go beyond that. With the M6 irons, the brand has used Speed Bridge to present to you on the golf course a combination of exceptional distance, feel, and sound. The great control and feel of these clubs are perfect for mid-handicap golfers.
The M6 is the company’s first game – improvement iron to have a through-slot “speed pocket.” That frees up the low portion of the face to be more flexible and hotter over a wider area and reduce spin. A structure connecting the topline to the back bar using a beam enhances the speed slot even more and improves sound.
