Dubai’s climate can be characterized by vibrant blue skies and warm sunny weather – classic conditions for the sport of golf . The government of Dubai has been promoting the sport of golf for over two decades; the Emirates Golf Club opened in 1988 and was the first all-grass championship golf course in the Middle East.
According to the Emirates Golf Federation, there are twenty – one golf clubs in the UAE’s sheikhdom, and the number is slowly growing. The majority of clubs gravitate to Dubai and Abu Dhabi but there are also clubs in Ras Al Khaimah and Sharjah.
In past decades, it was fairly expensive to play golf in Japan . However, these days a large majority of courses are open to the public, and it is not uncommon to pay between 5,000 and 10,000 yen per person for an 18-hole round of golf , including lunch and golf cart, especially on regular weekdays.
In terms of population , Dubai has an estimated population of 2,504,000 in 2016. This makes it the most populated emirate in the UAE, surpassing Abu Dhabi which, despite having a larger area, has the third largest population in the UAE that is estimated at just over 1.1 million.

The sport was banned up until the middle of the 1980s by the Communist Party of China as being too bourgeois. Despite a ban in 2004 that limits the number of golf courses in China due to environmental impact concerns, the number has more than tripled since 2004. At that time, only 170 courses existed.
Japan Has Half Of Asia’s Golf Courses, But The Game’s Popularity There Is Flagging : Parallels In the 1980s, Japan built thousands of golf courses and the game became baked into its business culture. Those days are over. Golf participation in Japan has dropped by 40 percent since 1996.
The Aqualine Golf Club in Chiba Prefecture was designed by renowned course architect Shunsuke Kato and is the most accessible from Tokyo – an easy drive through the Tokyo Bay Aqualine Tunnel. The 17th and 18th holes are renowned for their challenging bunkers and water hazards so be cautious on the back half.
