This is the first time since the Second World War that golf’s original Championship, first played in 1860, has been cancelled. The 149th Open will be played at Royal St George’s from 11-18 July 2021. The 150th Open will be played at St Andrews from 10-17 July 2022.

On 17 October 1860, eight professional golfers assembled at Prestwick for a tournament to determine who would be the Champion Golfer.

Royal Liverpool and Royal Troon have been confirmed as the respective venues for The 151st Open in 2023 and The 152nd Open in 2024.
The current champion is Shane Lowry , who won the 148th Open at Royal Portrush Golf Club in Northern Ireland with a score of 269. The Open Championship.

For a large majority of PGA Tour events, the winner will receive over $1 million. Only five tournaments award the winner under $1 million. Most winners on Tour will receive between $1 and $2 million, but a few of the larger tournaments award the winner over $2 million.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the current bid is already $28,000 , but Heritage Auctions values the trophy at $100,000.
Winning Wimbledon will net the champion of both the men’s and women’s singles draws $2,983,748 each. In 2018, singles champions Angelique Kerber and Novak Djokovic took home $2,531,722 . There is also a prize money boost for men’s and women’s doubles with the winners pocketing $676,082 per pair, up 20% from 2018.
