In the here and now, the GTE may be flawed as an electrified future-car, but it’s a painless introduction to living with a hybrid. You can plug it in, or not. You can charge the battery from the engine, or not.
GTE Mode. GTE Mode uses both the petrol engine and electric motor to give a powerful performance with plenty of punch. When engaged, GTE Mode has an imposing engine sound.

Two trim levels. The entry-level Golf GTE is joined by the new GTE Advance in the line-up. The standard car already comes well equipped as standard; however, moving up to Advance adds luxuries like 18in alloys, the updated navigation system and heated seats.

However, when you are reaching up to 1.5 million miles , the engine is approaching its limits. In terms of years, Volkswagen Golfs can run for an average of 5 years without problems and can still work further after changing the timing belt and if you maintain the engine regularly.

Golf R – The R model has a 2.0 litre tuned Turbo engine. It’s a newer model and is aimed more at performance as opposed to comfort. It’s notably a lot quicker than the R32 . It has a 2.0 litre turbo engine (like the R ), however it’s designed for comfort as well as performance (like the R32 ).
